Results Round 6 Week 1 | 2019/20
ROUND 6 RESULTS:
A GRADE: Rd 6 vs Glenelg ANA at Home.
Winning a rare toss we elected to bat against the competitions top team.
After flicking a switch at training on Thursday night we had a our mojo back and applied ourselves with the top 4 batters combining for over 170 runs.
An aggressive start from the openers combined with a 100 run stand from Haussen and Rosman has us 2/185 after 43 overs.
A few quick wickets has us 6/206 before the middle and lower order chipped in for 120 runs resulting in the Ramblers finishing the day all out for 318 with 2 overs remaining.
Standouts with the bat
Haussen – 68 from 117 balls
Ferris – 64 from 58 balls
Saunders – 49 from 30 balls
Rosman – 38 from 60 balls
Willson – 33 from 57 balls
Very confident of defending this total with good tight bowling and knocking off the top team
B GRADE: B Grade Round 6
This round we take on Mitchell Park, current ladder leaders in section 3.
We batted first and a 2nd wicket 80 run partnership to Pablo and Laurence set us up for a good start. Pablo with 41 from 122 balls and Laurence with 52 from 86 balls- his first B grade 50. At 1/100 from 30 overs we had a solid platform to launch a big total. J Benson hit 55 from 54 balls and J Simister 38* from 20 balls to get the team to 10/224. Whilst we would have taken this at the start of the day we need to capitalise better on great starts like this and post big totals. We bowled 1 maiden at the end of the day, with Mitchell Park needing 225 to win next week.
C GRADE: C Grade week 1 vs Morphey Park.
We won the toss again ! and decided to have a bat. After five 1st wicket partnerships of less than 20 runs we needed to get off to a better start and that we did. The old timers Handke and Strunky got to first drinks break to take the total to 0 for 66 off 20 overs, a great start. We lost our first wicket in the 36th over with the score at 120 setting the foundation for the rest of the innings. We then proceeded to loose 6 for 46 with some undisciplined batting against a reasonable bowling attack. In came the lower order Thompson and Hayes with a fantastic 70 run partnership for the 8th wicket to rescue the day and take the total to a very competitive 238. A solid bowling a fielding performance next week will put us in a good position to come away with a good result.
D GRADE: The Development squad lost the toss and were sent into the field on a very small oval. Glenelg ANA weathered the early good bowling by Blenkinsop and Donnelly batting ver sensibly.
Riley started very well impressing both Captains but it was OKeefe who made the break through. Thick edge was taken high by a diving Croft, the catch of the season.
Other bowlers would chime in Sarovic looking much better, Sekhon bowling some good balls, Wender who impresses greatly with bat and ball and Rea who was quite tidy in his line and length.
ANA declared 5/250. At stumps Croft and Donnelly we’re back in the sheds ant the Ramblers have work to do requiring about 225 to win
Both sides linked arms at the start of the game as the skippers read some words to the group with regards Men’s Mental Health Awareness Round
Thanks to the association for embracing the issue.
E GRADE: Round six has found us playing Coromandel at Hawthorndene Primary School. Having won the toss we decided to bat first. Not many highlights in the top order as Coromandel had us at 3/34, then Fish graced the
pitch and smacked Coromandel to all corners, hitting 28runs off of one over was very entertaining. Another two or three overs had passed and he was out for a very quick 63runs. Our tail did well against some good bowling with Ryan Dreschler making a very responsible 15runs, Ramblers
all out for 141runs in the 35th over.
With 22overs to bowl, Jesse Hughes (7overs, 0/10) and Ryan Dreschler (5overs, 1/5) opened the bowling and bowl with sting they did.
Full and at the stumps mixed with some pace. They were well supported by Alex Manning, Michael Sadler and Mark Dreschler. At the end of the day Coromandel are 2/40. I expect us to continue to bowl well to see us to
another win. Chilly.
