The run into finals

The mighty Ramblers are looking pretty good across the board as we head towards finals for 2016/2017.

In the juniors, our U10s and U12s are having great years with some tremendous development in their skills and of course enjoyment of the game. No premiership points are counted at that level so no finals as such.

However in our U14s, the team is into the semi-final for the T20 knockout competition being held tomorrow night (17th of February). They’re also only a couple of wins off fourth place.

The two U16s teams are having fantastic years sitting top and second! An amazing effort with potentially a grand final between the two. They play each other in the final home-and-away match starting this Sunday (19th of Feb) concluding the following Sunday (26th). Get down to Hawthorndene Oval from 9am to see some quality cricket played and potentially a prelude to the GF!

As for the seniors – the four teams are doing well in their bid for finals as well.

  • the Development Squad, primarily used for U16s getting their first taste of senior cricket, are a couple of wins back from playing finals, so with 3 games to go – they’re a chance
  • C-grade which also plays a number of young players are having a great year – currently sitting 5th and just a game back from 3rd
  • B-grade are coming home with a wet sail, just a game back from 3rd in what is a very competitive section. Last game, B-grade fielded 7 players under 20 years of age and smashed the opposition, bowling them out for just 73 who sit 3rd on the table
  • A-grade are having a great follow-up year sitting top of the table in Section 1 with the best performing bowling in the competition, giving up almost 300 runs less than the next best performing team. This backs up their minor-premiership from last year with the goal of bringing home the silverware at season’s end
